Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

My Williams line (all from St. Mary's Co., Md.) goes back to James Williams b. ca. 1795-1800 who married in 1817 Elizabeth Spalding. James was my g-g-g-grandfather. I believe his father was a Charles Williams - but am not sure. I would love to get any more info about James' parentage/siblings/how he got to St. Mary's Co./etc. Any info/leads/help anyone can give would be most appreciated.

I am researching my Williams ancestors in hopes of finding a connection to Roger Williams who founded RI. The family legend has us as his descendants. So far I have not been able to make that connection.

I have a sampler made by my great grandmother that is dated 1851. She was born in 1839 and the sampler gives her age as 13 years. I am making the assumption that that is the date she completed it. The sampler lists her immediate family with birth dates, some marriage dates and two death dates. It is possible to see that the marriage dates were added later as the thread is darker black.

Charles Williams, b. 4 Jul, 1804; m. Hannah Lewis, (b. 20 Jun, 1805 both in Dighton, Bristol Co, MA) 15 Jun, 1826; d. 8 Nov, 1877. Hannah d. 4 Jun,1892
Children:
Charles A. Williams, b. 8 Oct, 1828, m. ? 29 Dec,1858
Benjamin F. Williams, b. 22 Sep, 1831; d. 16 Dec, 1854
Hannah E. Williams, b. 29 May, 1835, d. Sep 27,1837
Virgil C. Williams, b. 30 Dec, 1837; m. ? 9 Jun, 1859; d. 7 Apr,1863
Hannah Victoria Williams, (my ggrandmother) b.30 Jul, 1839; m. Ransom(e) Bruce Aylsworth 3 Apr, 1860; second m. Abram or Abraham Taylor, date unknown.( A. Taylor is my ggrandfather)
Alanson Williams b.19 Feb, 1843; m. ?, 11 Aug, 1859
Archelus A. Williams, b. 19 Feb, 1843

These last two are twins. The whole family appears in the 1850 Census for Providence, RI. So far, I haven't determined when they moved to RI, but both Charles and Hannah died in RI and I have their death certificates, which also gives me their parents names. The parents of both are listed on the CD for Dighton - Simeon Williams m. Bathsheba Hathaway, and Benjamin Lewis m. Hannah Rounds. I'm still searching for Simeon and Bathsheba's records. Other than what is listed above, I have no information on any of the children except Hannah Victoria. And I would love to be able to get further back beyond Simeon.

I'm searching for information on David Williams, born abt 1786 in Wilson Co., TN (now DeKalb Co.). He married Elizabeth Van Hooser on 23 June 1812. I have found him in the various census records from 1820
thru 1850, but can find no data to tie him to parents. He probably died in early 1850, as his wife was shown living with her son William in that year's DeKalb Co. census.

The had the following children: Jesse b. 3/29/1813, John, b. 1814, Nancy Roselea, b. c1818, William Carroll, b. 12/23/1827, Mary Margaret, b. 11/9/1832, and Charles W., b. c1834. The children were all born in Wilson Co. or Smith Co., TN and most of them moved to Mo. in about 1850. Jesse moved to Arkansas in 1858.

Would appreciate any clues to finding his family. Contact me and put Williams family in subject line.

I am trying to research the origins of my ancestor Zedekiah Williams, who died in Putnam County, OH, on Oct. 18, 1854. He lived in Montgomery County, KY, beginning before 1810 (he is found there in both the 1810 and 1820 censuses) and moved to Indiana before 1850. His first wife was Nancy Yocum, his second Drusilla Spurgeon. He was apparently born in Pennsylvania on Sept. 21, 1781 (birth date based on cemetery record). He is occasionally listed as a "Jr." A Zedekiah Williams is listed in the 1800 census in Philadelphia, over 45, with a wife and several daughters, who could possibly be the father. No further information is known about the older Zedekiah, and any help would be appreciated.

I am currently working on the Williams family starting with James Williams, who migrated from Pennsylvania to the Central Missouri area of Boone, Cole, Moniteau, and Morgan County areas. His son, Oliver P. Williams (my GG Grandfather) was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, , and I am trying to define James Williams ancestors starting with his parents. I also believe that James had a brother, Isaac, who migrated to the same area in Missouri

I'd love to hear from anyone who might have a connection.
