Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

Crawford Williams (b. 1804 in NC or SC) (m. Ruth Chaffin in 1827) died before 1860 probably in Marietta, GA, when and why?

Amos Williams and Elizabeth were his parents. That is the starting point and I haven't gotten any further back.

Marshall "Carbine" Williams was from the Dunn/Erwin-Harnett County, North Carolina. He invented the 30 calibre rifle used in the war.

Also a Dr. Carile Williams who was a Civil WAR doctor in Dunn/Erwin, Harnett County, North Carolina

Who are their ancestors and has anyone tested for this family?

There was a J. T. or J. I. Williams who had a turpentine operation in the Dunn/Erwin-Harnett County, NC area too.

Can you help me with Thomas Williams born in about 1800 married to Mary frances Miles in 1820 in Chesterfield Co., Va. They had eleven childred that I can account for. Mary Miles' father was John Miles but I can not find Thomas' father anywhere. I know that Thomas was born in Va. according to the 1850 census and I think he died before 1860. I have been looking for him a very long time with no success and I would really like to find him. Thank you for your help...Gloria

I would like to correct the date of birth on an entry i posted on Edward Williams his year of birth should have been 1786 instead of 1876. Some have him Edmund Williams and some have Thaddeus Edmund Williams same date of birth, born in N.C. and married to Elizabeth K. Darrell born N.C. all have the same Williams children that I have, Cornelia born 1825, Basil Duke born 1829, Dewitt Clinton born 1831, Cecil A. born 1835, Algeron S. born 1838 all children born in Tennessee. On 1850 census record and marriage record both for Maury county Tennessee, they both had Edward Williams. I am looking for were everyone else found his name as Edmund or his name as Thaddeus Edmund.

My grandfather, William Mack Williams, born in Wilson County, North Carolina in 1862 was the son of Robert Williams and Bathsheba Morris. Robert possibly had a middle or first name of Joseph. Robert and Bathsheba were married on 20 JUN 1857. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Morris. According to the census of 1860, they had two girls, Elizabeth, b. 1858, and Jackean, b. 1859. Later, in 1864, they had a second son, Roland. Other than the census data of 1860 wherein Bathsheba is living with her parents along with her two girls, and the 1900 census data that shows her a widow living with her son, Roland in Quincy Town, Gadsden, Florida, we cannot find any other data on this family. Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for information about John F. Williams His daughter Acadia (Arcadia/Arcada) Williams was my G-Grandmother. She was born Januray of 1854 in Illinois. She married Henry Peters Oct 21. 1885 Wilson County, (Rose) Kansas. The 1900 Census shows that Arcadia was already a widow with two children: Grace Irene and Estlin (Claud). The census tells us that Arcadia was born in Illinois, and that her fathers name was John F. Williams. The census states that John F. Williams was born in Maryland. Somewhere I saw reference to John living in Wilson County at the same time that Arcadia was there, but later he falls off the face of the earth. I don't see that he died, but rather that he moved further west. Any information about this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am working on tracking the Horney line and have hit a block with the Williams side. What I know:
Emma Williams:
Birth 23 Sep 1877 in Rockingham
Death 8 Apr 1957 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth, North Carolina married Ralto O. Horney in Guilford North Carolina. Her fathers name I believe was Roland Birdette Williams and her mother was Eugenia Bennett.
From the oral history I have gathered Roland was a headmaster at what is now Guilford College when it was known as New Garden Boarding School. At that time I believe it was an all boys school, however because her father was the headmaster she attended classes there herself. My block is finding any information about Roland or Eugenia (parents, siblings, etc..). I am certain that I have the correct Williams line, but I cannot find any information on the family before Roland and Eugenia.

Ralto and Emma had 7 children:
Annice Jacqueline (my grandmother)married Joel H Riley of Alabama
Findlay Martin
Steven Grilletee
Mary Ann (married T.Kearns)
Eugenia (died very young from influenza)
Gordon (no middle name found)
Roland Williams (named for his grandparents I would imagine).
Any assistance in tracing this back or information would be greatly appreciated!
