Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

I am interested in researching my maternal line a grandfather Stephen Williams born Bettews Carenion , Montgomeryshire about 1875

My cousin Tony Williams, of Welshpool Powys, Wales has undergone a family tree dna test kit114723 B41o7 12 marker only and we have NO exact dna matches with any Williams at this point but many 1 step matches with Wllliams

I also have undergone the dna test kit 109931 F8889 and am a member of the Vaughan-Vaughn project

I believe back in about 1300 or later my Vaughan and williams family lines crossed with a marriage because it seems my Vaughan line can be traced to a tiny village near Bettews.

I am searching for

1. any Williams family trees that could possibly be a link with Stephen Williams. he married Margaret Stephens and together they had 15 children most born in or near Tregynon, Newtown, Powys Wales. My mother Phoebe Hannah was the last survivor dying aged 96 in sept 2007

2. can you explain why Tony Williams has no excat dna matches with any Wiolliams but plenty on a 1 step basis

Thanks

Roy Vaughan

Help me find the right Samuel!

My Gr, Gr grandpa was Daniel Williams b. May 17, 1813 in Russell County, VA and d. Feb 15, 1890 in Sullivan, MO.

Many public trees posted on Ancestry.com believe his father was Samuel b. 1764 in St. Mary's MD and d. 1850 in Russell Co., VA Others believe his father was a Samuel b. 1791 and died 1850 in Bedford Co., VA. Both sides of this issue seem to believe that his grandfather was Samuel b. Sep 18 Cumberland Co., VA.

I live in Seattle, but am presently in Russell Co researching. The Russell County 1850 Census supports Samuel born in 1764. On Monday I'll leave for Bedford County to search there.

It may take DNA to give us the correct answer. Thanks Adrian for all you do for us.

My brick wall is William Robert Williams.
William Robert married three times.
1. Martha Segars - 1852
Emma T.- 1852
Jane A. - 1854
2. Rachel Elizabeth Jones Lee - 1859(her second marriage)
William Richard - 1861
William Ivan
Harold Bryant
Gerald Bryant (me)
Rachel Elizabeth (Lizzie)- 1863
Jesse A. - 1865
3. Rose C. unknown

I am in possession of the death certificate of William Richard Williams d. 6 May, 1941, which shows his parents as William R Williams and Martha Jones.

My belief is that who ever gave the marriage info to the county for the death cert. gave the first name of the first wife and the last name of the second wife. Sources seem to bear this out. Any help finding William Robert's parents would be appreciated.

It is w/ sadness I tell you the passing of a good man-Rufus Alexander Williams, Jr. affectionately known to many as just plain JR. JR passed away October 2nd in White Deer, TX. He was so good about helping others w/ genealogy and sharing computer tips. JR. was from the old school- no genealogy software for him. He liked to do his family history on Microsoft Works or Word and he was a such a thorough researcher. While his line of WILLIAMS did not match w/ either one of mine it is possible we were related via the WHITFIELD or the SMITH lines for they were out of Duplin and Harnett Counties, North Carolina. His family migrated to Grayson County, TEXAS. JR. will be sorely missed by many, many people who he emailed w/ daily sharing genealogy tips, computer tips, political views, and funny jokes, and his love of JESUS. JR. may you rest in peace. We thank GOD for sharing you w/ all of us.

I am still searching, but I am almost ready to give up. I figured I would try one more time. I am searching for William Riley Williams. I have not had success in locating my great great grandfather. He came to Lafourche Parish, Louisiana at the age of 11 with Isaac Lush and Rebecca Bignal Brant. Lush and Brant were married May 19, 1824 in Adams County, Mississippi. It is unknown why William came with them to Louisiana. In the 1820 census of Adams County Mississippi, Rebecca Brant (who was widowed in 1819 when John Brant died) was listed as neighbor of George Williams. Could there possibly be some sort of connection to George Williams' that is listed in that census. William Riley Williams was born circa 1831, unknown place of birth and died in 1899. When he registered to vote, he stated his place of birth as Tennessee. He is buried in Williams Cemetery in Golden Meadow, Louisiana. His tombstone reads: William Riley Williams b. 1831 d. 1899 3rd Co. Washington La Art. CSA. I was able to locate military records in reference to him having served in the Civil War, but not much info was provided. William married Phoebe Cocke (Cox) born 1837 died 1921, daughter of Pleasant Dasha Cocke (born 1807, married 1836, died 1883 in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana) and Pauline Lefort (born 1814 and died 1890). I am at a dead end.
