Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

My gg-grandfather, John Jackson Williams (DOB Feb. 13, 1821), came to Pushmataha, Alabama, as a young man, from Richmond, VA.

He married Katherine Anne Bunn, daughter of Martha Horn Bunn of NC. While Martha Bunn portrayed herself as a widow, oral family history suggests that her daughter was the illegitimate daughter of an "English nobleman."

I am at a brickwall going back further than John Jackson Williams. Family oral tradition is that we are descended from VA. royal governor Alexander Spotswood, but I have nothing other than that.

Thanks for any help, Spottswoood W. H. Williams

Leroy Guthrie Williams is my Great Grandfather b.in Stewart Co. Ga. in the years of 1827 or before 1835. I do not know his parents. It has been said that Leroy grew up an orphan. When he was 15 yrs old a Leroy Williams was living with Isaac Driggins. His 2nd wife Ann Rodgers, her two children by her first husband and a Leroy Williams was living in his household in 1850.
Leroy came to Shelby Co. Texas and was there in 1857 when he married Audella Haight. He joined the Civil war in 1862. He served in La. and was released early because of an infection in his spleen. His census has not be found for 1860. By 1870 he was living in Bell Co. TX. In early 1870 Leroy and his family moved to Tarrant Co. TX. After moving to Parker Co. Tx and Clay Co. TX. He moved back to Parker Co. Tx and then he lived in Tarrant Co. TX until he and his wife died. They are buried in the Hudson Cemetery near Kennedale, TX. Thomas and Lenora

Patrick Williams, my 2G-Grandfather, married Mary Mason Scott (Sir Walter Scott's G-granddaughter) in 1852. Patrick later married Kate Knight, after Mary's death. Patrick fathered a number of children by Kate including my G-grandfather, James Albert Williams, born August 23, 1872. James Albert W. married Mattie E. Garner in April 1882, my Grandfather, Henry Thomas Williams, was born to this union on 6 February, 1902, in either/probably Dallas or Ouchita County Arkansas.

Any leads further back than Patrick or other legacy-relation info appreciate?

My husband Nick Van Boddie Williams Jr. is a desendant of Elisha Williams b. abt 1746, probably in VA. Elisha married Sarah Josey. Some say that he is the son of a mulatto mother and caucasian father. However, our family has a letter that indicates (according to a great grandson Henry Philips Wiliams) that Elisha's father was William Williams who married a MISS Thomas. I have never been able to find this match. The marriage may have been short lived, as one family member had an indication that Elisha (as well as his wife Sarah Josey) may have been orphaned. It's possible that the William Williams was another member of the family, as the letter actually reads that William Williams was head of the household!

This family seems to connect to the John Williams who married Ann Whitley and Nick's DNA matches that of others in Group 9. I have compiled quite a lot of information about John Williams and his descendants. If anyone is researching this line, or connects to it, please let me know? Also read my postings in other forums in the Williams DNA Project and Source Documentation Repository.

THANKS.

Gerri Williams

Searching for the ancesters of Isaac Loomis who married
Elizabeth Loomis in Salisbury,Litchfield Co. CT on March 12 1750.( His father is listed as Isaac Williams of CT.)
They had 3 children born in Salisbury,Isaac,b.Feb6,1753,Soloman,b.Dec.7,1750& Hiram b.June14,1757 in Salisbury. They had a daughter Mary b.1767 in NY state. My source is the Barbour Collection
of Vital Records. The reference for Mary is the DAR records of Hiram's application for Veteran's benefits after the revolution.
I beleive Isaac may be the son of Isaac Williams and Sarah Dennison born in 1717/18 in Stonington, New London CT.,but I have been unable to prove it.

I'm attempting to make a connection to Maynard Lavern Williams born about 1937 in possibly Kentucky. According to my Birth Certificate he was my father and this is the only record I have. I've joined the Williams Genealogy group to include the DNA project. At this point, I'm not even sure if my name is Williams which is kind of sad if you think about it since I am 46 years old.

Married Edna C NO SURNAME
Born 1881 in Texas

Ida M Williams - born 1904 in Texas - could not read or write at the age of 16.
Marshall Williams - born 1906 in Texas
Clifton O Williams - born 1908 in Texas, married Vannah NO SURNAME. She had a twin sister named Hannah.
Died: 1976 in Mansfield Texas
Lawrence A Williams - born 1909 in Texas. Worked in the oil industry. Died in California. Not sure what year.

Johnnie Williams - born 1916 in Texas (girl)
Winnifred O Williams - born 1918 in Texas

There seams to be no record of Curtis L prior to 1910. There is a promising connection in the 1900 census to a Samuel F Williams, born 1848 in Texas. Possible siblings for Curtis are Nettie Williams, born 1885, Lora Williams, born 1888, and Howard Williams, born 1890. All are listed as being born in Texas.

Any help or information you could provide would be appreciated.
