Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

Forgot My Brick Wall
I can trace the Williams part of my family back to Benjamin Madison Williams, Sr, due to Census records but I can not find anything past that. I may have a possible lead from a England Census record from 1840 but I am unsure as to if it is correct. The date of Birth is a match for My GGGrandfather, but I can not be sure. Any help on any of the names listed would be great!!

Hi,
I have been trying for years to locate information on my great, great grandfather, George Williams, born in Washington Co, GA about 1799/1800. He had two children names Benjamin S. born in 1824 and James Paul, born 1834. I cannot find who his parents were, or who his spouse was, or when and where he died. I know that he must have Mary Jane Kersney around 1844 and his two sons moved to AL, and served in the Civel War. I hope you can help me out, because this is driving me crazy.

Thanks you so much

My mother's father was John Sharp Williams,III married to Clare Cadenhead, who gave birth to three daughters, Sallie Shelby Williams, Clare Cadenhead Williams, and Margaret Williams; John Sharp III served as Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Mississippi. Mother, Sallie Shelby, was the youngest of the three girls. Born October 21, 1920, she grew up in Yazoo City, county seat of Yazoo County. Aunt Margaret, the eldest, and Clare, the middle child, were both married when Mother moved with her parents to Jackson where she completed her last year of high school, graduating from Jackson (Central ?) in 1937,at the age of sixteen. Grandaddy John died at an insurance commissioners convention in New Orleans at the age of 48? Mamaw died at the age of 53? The oldest of Mother's six children, I remember Mamaw, but I believe she had died before my fourth birthday in December of 1950 when we moved from Louise to Yazoo City. Mother's first husband,Sam McFadden, died in the U.S., at the onset ow WWII.

Looking for Robert Lee Williams born 1868-69 Arkansas
Father supposed to also be Robert Lee.
Some family trees indicate first Robert Lee son of
Ambrose D. Williams, born Kentucky.
I am trying to document this lineage. Ambrose other
sons are Joseph, Harden, Valentine.....
Their mother was Susan.
My Robert could have had another mother as Ambrose
was supposed to have two wives.
If anyone can help....I would be so appreciative.
Valentine Hardin was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Cole
Williams who wrote "A Civil War Romance."
She mentions a brother of Valentine (V.H.) as Thomas.
This family...children of Susan and Ambrose are
listed in 1850 Searcy Co. Arkansas census.

Help! Help! My Williams brick wall is in Prince Georges and surrounding counties in Maryland. My earliest known ancesters were William Williams and wife Frances, last name unknown. They were born circa early 1700's. Children were Benjamin, Elizabeth (died early), another Elizabeth, and John, all Williams'. My line is John, called "Dory" Williams and wife Elizabeth Barrett (not the poet). Their male children were Jonathan Williams, William Williams, and John Anderson Williams. William Williams would be my line. All these people are listed in the register of St. John's Episcopal Church, at Broadcreek, Prince Georges County, MD. Earlier records destroyed by fire. Would like to know the earlier William Williams father and mother and his wife Frances last name.

This Williams family as far back as John Williams and Elizabeth Barrett, emigrated to Rowan County, NC with people who were Barretts, Loveless, and a few other families down the "Old Wagon" Road to NC.

JOHN R. WILLIAMS AND WIFE NELLIE WILLIAMS.....(My Great Grandparents)...John R. was born in West Virginia 02/08/ 1852, maybe around Winchester, or maybe Shenandoah Valley. He went to a school called Three Run School. He was of Methodist religion. Died March 12, 1925 in Corrigan, Texas. Children were Ruth Eva, Josephine L., Ishmael. I would like to find out about their family that they left behind...possibly from St. Joseph, Missouri, or maybe York, Nebraska, or in West Virginia. I have not been able to trace them back that far, and don't know how they ended up in Nebraska from West Virginia or when. They came to Texas in a covered wagon maybe around 1895 give or take a few years. In those days, why on earth would a married couple and small children decide to take such a perilous journey all alone and leave behind whatever family they had?? This puzzles me. Were they running away from something, or somebody? (When he and Nellie were married, they bought a house near her parents...the state line of Virginia and West Virginia ran between their house and her parents house.......supposedly their house had at one time had housed the Jesse James gang.) I do not know Nellie's maiden name. They are both buried in Corrigan, Texas Union Springs Cemetary.

Williams Williams, b. 1753, SC; d. 1831, SC
Benjamin Williams, b. 1733, Kershaw, SC; d. 1797, Chester, SC.
