Lineage:  My ancestor was Isaac Williams, Pendleton District, SC, who died of rattlesnake bite on July 4, 1818. He married Mary McDow of North Carolina, and had my ancestor, Eli Williams, born about 1812. Searching for father of Isaac, who was possibly Caleb Williams, also of Pendleton District, SC. (Henry VIII was the cause of there being so many Williamses. In Wales, home of the clan, men had only one name, as John ap (son of) William. Henry said this caused too many bookkeeping problems, and so everyone had to have a surname, so many chose their father's given name - William, which became Williamson, shortened to Williams. Thus, there could be a whole village full of Williamses, and none necessarily would be kin to another).
