Lineage: In Orange County, NC my ancestor registers in the 1790 F. Cen. He was Joseph Edward Williams and he appears in the census with Edward Williams. He could be living next to his brother or his father. Joseph was born about 1779 in Orange, possibly a bit earlier. He married Elizabeth Holt and had Catherine in 1804 and Sarah in 1806. There were also Polly, Patsy, Rebecca, John and Charity. The brick wall the one Joseph leans on, without parents. Was his father Edward Williams? Or another Williams from St. Asaph's District of Hillsboro, Orange, NC? Sarah Williams wed John A. Lay on 16 March, 1829 and Rebecca wed William Wolf 14 April, 1829. Both marriages took place in Orange. |

Lineage: On a 1900 Jackson County, Kentucky census, my gr. grandfather is listed:
George Williams b. 1836 Germany parents b. Germany
He is married to my gr. grandmother, Susie Cates Johnson (she is divorced from Bill Johnson)
Children:
Liza Johnson (from Susie's first marriage) 10 yrs. old
Velma Williams (my grandmother) 5 yrs. old (1895)
Guy Williams age 4 (1896)
Ammon Williams age 1 (1900)
George and son Guy dissapear after this, I have been told Guy died young. Also that thier first child was named Mason, but died before 1900. Susie shows up again in 1910 Madison Co. Ky census with only Velma and Ammon, listed as widow. George and Guy are buried in family cemetery, but have only fieldstones, no dates. No family left that remembers anything. |

Lineage: My grandfather, William Kelly Williams, came to McIntosh County during the timber era and married my grandmother Nancy Poppell in 1893. His death certificate says he was born in Brunswick County, North Carolina. So far, I can't find him in Brunswick County North Carolina. He is supposed to have come to Georgia with an older brother, George, when he was only nine years old (this is the story). I remember someone named Zade, who was a preacher, visited us when I was a child (I was born in 1938 so this was somewhere in the 1940's). He was known to me as my grandfather's brother. My aunts said they remembered him talking about the beach so I assume he lived near the coast somewhere.
