Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

John H. Williams b. 1800 N.C. m. Mary Melton(not confirmed)
John H. Williams was found 1830 Fayette Co., Ala. owning land next to Elijah Melton, purchase dates,1825 thru 1835.
John and Mary were found on the 1830 Fayette Co., Ala. census
Also found on 1850 Coosa Co. census as the following:
Williams, John H. 50 NC
Mary 39 Ky
Eli 16 Ark
Martha 15 Al
James 13 Al
Milton 11 Al (My gggrandfather)
George 10 Al
Mary 7 Al
David 5 Al
Dick 3 Al
Sarah 4/12 Al
The above listed Milton was John Milton Williams who married Nancy Harriet Myers. They moved to Conway Co. Ark. and then on to Talihina, LaFlore Co., Ok., where they both died and are buried.
I'm seeking any information regarding John H. Williams and his wife Mary Melton. Was she a relative of that Elijah Melton in Fayette Co., Ala.?

My brick wall is Francis Williams, died Vincennes, Northwest Territory, July of 1812. His widow, Abagail (Padgett?) later married her neighbor, Edward Purcell.

Francis and Abigail, according to family lore, migrated west via the Ohio River with his brother and his brother's family. Lore says they started inn New York and stopped 'briefly' in Kentucky and before taking the Wabash River north to Vincennes.

I have concrete evidence of their land and interacting with Fort Knox (in Vincennes) in 1800. There were nine children born to Francis and Abigail. Later, Abigail had 3 more children with Edward Purcell. Abigail lived with her daughter and probably died sometime between th 1840 and 1850 census.

I have seen reports of Abigail being from state of New York and state of Mass. I can't seem to find marriage records in either state.

Does any of this sound familiar? I could add lots of info about the nine Williams children. I am happy to share.

Hopefully, Pam

My brick wall is my 4th great-grandfather HENRY B. WILLIAMS. Born circa August 1784 in Croton Falls, Westchester County NY. Died 31 Oct 1859, age 75 yrs, 2 mos, probably in Mamakating, Sullivan Co. NY, his last known residence. Buried in Stanton/Centennial Cemetery, Wurtsburo, Sullivan Co. NY. He married Rachel Clearwater of Mamakating by 1809. I know only two of their children:

- Martha E. Williams, b. 1809 in Orange County NY. Married Francis Wood of England. She died 1893 in Mamakating and was buried in Poplar Grove Cemetery, Philipsport, Sullivan Co. NY.
- Frances P. "Fanny" Williams, b. June 1814 in Sullivan Co. NY. Married Abraham Hughson of Fishkill NY. She died 4 Dec 1882 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co. NY and was buried in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Censuses of Mamakating NY indicate Henry B. Williams had other children, perhaps as many as 10 in all, but I've been unable to discover their names.

I am the daughter of Philip Pendleton Kearns and looking for my lineage. I live in Culpeper Virginia. I know that William Williams is my direct ancestor. He was alive here in the mid 1700s and was a Revolutionary War hero. My great aunt was Gertrude Williams who died here. My father claims that through Gertrude Williams and Virginia Bruces that we are directly related to Robert the Bruce.
