Williams Lineages Underway
This
section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they
are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall
you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either
have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!
And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

Am after information on Barber Williams, born c 1787 in CT or NY who married a Martha or Patsy.
They had at least these children:
Joseph b c 1814 NY
Patience
Phoebe
David
By 1850 and 1860 were in Albion, Dane, Wisconsin.
Barber and Martha (Patsy?) there in 1870.
Son David is buried there.
I would like to know where Martha and Barber ended up, have read they went to California, but cannot verify. Also like to know Martha's maiden name, Barber's parentage and where Joseph ended up.
Joseph had a son Joseph (1844 - 1880) and a daughter Palmyra. After 1860 in Albion I can find no trace of Joseph senior or Palmyra, b c 1840 - 1842
Thanks in advance for any help

My grandfather, after whom I am named. He may have been born in Yadkin County, NC. He certainly lived there for most of his adult life. He was a prominent businessman (furniture). He married Olive Thomas, and they had the following children: Leo Sanford, the eldest, Roy Charles (my father), Max, Eva May (or Mae), and Ray. Probably in the late 20s the family moved to Maryville, TN. I have visited Yadkinville and Yadkin County and examined local, county, and state records and newspapers of the time. There are records of more than one William F. Williams of the time but none of them appear to be my ancestor. Any leads will be appreciated.

My brick wall is my Great-great Grandfather, His name is Mathew Williams - born 1817 in Kentucky - died in Reynolds, Co. Mo. 1908. Married Mary Kline - born 1819 Missouri. died 1906 Reynolds, Co. Mo. Her Father's name was william Kline Mother Unknown.
The first documented evidence I have of Mathew is from the 1850 Census of Madison, Co. Mo. He is listed as being 30 years old, wife 31, children: Josiah 10, Susan 8, Mathew 6, Elizabeth 4, Nancy L. 1. All of those children were born in Missouri.
Also on the same page there are three more Williams families : James 56, S.C.- Mary 51 S.C. - children:
Ezekiel 17, born Mo. Mary A. 15, born Mo. Thomas 13, born Mo. William H. 5, born Mo. next family: Henry 28, born Ky. Malinda 28, born TN. children: Mary J. 1, born Mo. next is James 19, born Ky. Elizabeth 22 born Mo. James J. 3, born Mo.Martha 1, born Mo.
I suspect that James is the father of my Mathew, but I cannot prove it at this time. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me on breaking down my brick wall.
Thanks for any help I can get.

We have a Holland Williams in our family, and are wondering if he was any relation to Gen. Otho Holland Williams. Other possibility is that he was named after Holland Blackmer, an author of children's books.
Our direct lineage:
Singleton Williams, probably b. in RI (some say Liverpool, Eng.)
His son, Nathaniel, b. at Guilford, VT in 1794, served in War of 1812 under his uncle, Capt. Jacob Fuller.
After the war, lived in Felts Mills, NY and was a fuller and clothier. Married Abigail Yeomans about 1818.
They had about 12 children, two of which were:
(1)Holland Southwick Williams, b. ca 1829, m.(1) Amanda Joslin and (2) Lydia Miller. Holland claimed his share of his father's estate in 1890-91, and lived in Oregon at the time. He d. at Ashland, OR in 1907.
(2)Abigail Williams (my great-grandmother)b. Jan. 1843 in Lorain Co. OH, m. 1860 to Richard Ewalt Burns. Lived at Central City, IA and raised family of 10 children.
Other of Nathaniel Williams' children are: Alanson, Byron, William, Martin, Mary, Lucinda, Emily, Adeline, and Lucia (or Louisa).
The Blackmer, Cross, Yeomans, Williams and Burns families intermarried and migrated together.
