Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

I am looking for the father of Ellison E. Williams, b. 4/19/1766 in Surry County, NC. I have a Covington, KY Journal article that interviews him and he states that he and his father came across the Cumberland Gap with Daniel Boone in Boone's second trip. The father was killed by Indians sometime in the 1780's. There are multiple sources to this fact - but I can't find out his name for sure. Some say it is Zadock Williams, but there are date problems there. There is also some that say it is John Williams, but I'm not able to coroborate that either. Am looking for any Surry County records that can shed some light.

My Williams Brick wall will begin with my grandmother. I have been told all my life her name was Mae Louise Williams. Daughter of Joseph Williams and Mary F Knox.

I am now questioning if her name might have been Mabel and Mae was a nick name of alias she might have used.

According to her death certificate she was born 11 February 1894 in Brewster NY. However it list her father as John Knox. Now we all know the info on these documents are only as good as the provider of the info knows.

I do know that Mae's parents were divorced and her mother returned to her parents home with the children. So this might be why her grandfather was listed as father.

Mae married twice. First 13 July 1913 in Danbury CT. Her parents are listed as Joseph and Mary Knox on this document. She married Willard Levi Russell.
Second she married 8 Dec 1930 In Hudson Co. NJ to Theodore Hooven.
Mae died 19 Apr 1937 in Brooklyn NY and is buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery in an unmarked grave.

I cannot find Mae on any census with either husband or her children. According to a letter from St. Christophers in Dobbs Ferry NY back in the early 60's Mae mothered 10 children. Only four are accounted for.

On a 1920 Burial record for a 1 yr old son of Mae and Willard in Wooster Cemetery in Danbury CT Mae is listed as Mabel. Her death certificate and both marriage records she is listed as Mae. Again errors occur all the time in cemetery workers writing down info and who provided the info.

I know of one known Sibling for Mae. John M. Williams who I found on the 1930 Census in Fishkill NY. Accord to the letter from the nuns at St. Christophers Mae had a brother John M. Williams living in Fishkill Ny.
From my father I learned his uncle John had a daughter named Ruby. There fore I am assuming the John M. Williams living in Fishkill NY in 1930 with his wife Laura and daughter Ruby is him. That is the only record I have found of him. No marriage to compare parents names, nothing else.

I have been searching for this family since 1979 and am just at my wits end. I am not getting any younger and my attention span and memory are getting a lot shorter. I have a deep need to find this family before my time runs out.

I am looking for information on my (half) Uncle, Tim Williams. His father was Henderson May Williams and his mother was Martha Huffman. They divorced and his father re-married and had a number of children by his second wife, but I can't find anything about Tim. He did maintain contact with his father and the "new" family. What I THINK I know is that he was born and died in South Texas. Born around 1870-1875 probably and died around 1910 and is buried in Rockport, TX, I think. He was a teacher, a muscian and a photographer.
Any information anyone can share with me will be very appreciated, as I don't know where to turn at this point. I'm stymied!! Thank you!

I am trying to trace records of my great great grandfather. He was born in welshpool wales around 1850 +/- 2 years. I cant find any trace of him until he married my gt grandmother Annie Marshallsay Gibbs, in 1879 in Cardiff. where his marriage certificates states he was 27( although other records show he should have been 29 at this stage)and that he was born in welshpool and his father John Williams was a builder. I have traced his life from marriage to death but cant find anything before 1879 not even a record of his birth. Rumour has it that he emigrated to America as an infant where he married and had twin children who along with his wife all died from cholera he then at some stage came back to the UK before 1879. I have tried all the shipping lists and web sites but cannot find any trace of him.

I'm searching the Williams Family of Gates County, North Carolina. Gates Co. was the eastern half of Hertford Co. from 1759 thru 1778 and Chowan County prior to 1759. Proven: Robert Nathaniel Williams of Roduco/Eure, Gates Co., NC 1914-1993 m. Mildred Elizabeth Paris of Newport News, VA 1918 - 1962; Pleasant Zachery Williams of Reynoldson Township/Roduco, Gates Co., NC 1873 - 1925 m. IdaRoxie Virginia Eure of Hall/Roduco, Gates Co., NC 1886 - 1960; Zachariah (or Zachery) Taylor Williams of ??/Reynoldson Township, Gates Co., NC 1849 - 1929 m. Abigail Pearce of ??/Gates Co., NC 1844 - 1876; Michael Williams of ??, Gates Co., NC 1807 - 1884 m. Zilpha Penelope Lee of ??/Gates Co., NC 1811 - 1881 ********* This is where the records are hard to connect. There are many Williams households recorded in the area, however, I can't determine which was Michael's father. Does anyone have a connection to the parentage of Michael Williams of Hall or Reynoldson Townships? He left his estate to son, Noah.
