Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

My brick wall is my great grandparents, W.A. Williams born abt 1864. He married Virginia Rollin in 1891 in Helena ark. Both are dead by April 1900, leaving 3 small children orphans. Two of the children were abandoned at the railroad depot in grand junction tenn on their way to grandparents home after the deaths of their parents.

We have done DNA to try to connect with Williams relatives.

My major interest is in my mother's Williams line. I can easily trace it to Frances and Abigail Williams living just north of Vincennes,(Indiana) Northwest Territory in 1800. I have copied Francis' actual will and I know Abigail remarried Edward Purcell, her neighbor, after Francis' death in 1812. Family lore says Francis and his brother came down the Ohio from New York state. I have found several 'Francis Williams' in the 1790 census, but no way to connect any to my line.

My grandfather was Walter Duffy Williams Jr (1921-2006). He resided in died in Jamestown RI. unsure of where he was born.

His father was Walter D Williams Sr. (1891-1946?). he was born in Barnardsville, NC and died in Jamestown, RI.
Walter Sr's wife was Pearl Frances Cavender (1892-?). She was born in Missouri.

Below are my puzzle piece ancestors:
Walter Sr.'s father was John Harvey Williams. All I know is that he was from Barnardsville/Buncombe County, North Carolina, and the family lore that he was a blacksmith and a mountaineer. I do not know his ancestors or the years that he lived.

His wifes name was Mary Jean Philips. it has been passed down that she is half Cherokee. I can only presume that she was also from Barnardsville.

Does anyone have any knowledge of them. With great difficulty I am really trying to learn more about my family and my heritage.

my cousin has also informed me that our Williams family descend from Wales.
Please Help

I am very lucky! Three of my great grandparents were Williams. I will begin by posting the one that has given me the most difficulty.

Jessie May Williams was born January 1870. She married James Wiley Williams, October 31, 1885, Lawrence County, MO. Jessie and Jim had two children: a girl born in 1886 and a boy born in 1888. In 1889 they migrated to Hunt County, Texas. Two more children were born. A girl in 1890 (my grandmother) and a boy in 1892. The boy, named Earl F. H. Williams died nine months later in 1893.

Jessie became ill. Jim took her to Hot Springs, AR in search of a cure. She died in Hot Springs January 24, 1894. The body was returned to Texas for burial.

Both bride and groom were under legal age when they married. I. H. Williams signed consent for his son. F. M. Williams signed consent for Jessie.

Now for the blocks: I have not found Jessie May in the census of 1870 or 1880. (1900 census of her children indicate their mother was born in Missouri)
There was an F. M. Williams living nearby, but there are no records indicating that he had a daughter (would have shown as 10 or 11 in 1880 census).

Who are Jessie's parents? Siblings? Where was she REALLY born? Where did she live in 1870? In 1880?

I am interested in a Thomas Williams, supposedly born Thomas Walker in Wales about 1780. At some point, he moved to England where he befriended a man named Anthony Hall, and his wife Teresa (Wallis). Thomas apparently changed his name to Williams to avoid conscription. All three emigrated to Drummond Township, Lanark County, Ontario Canada, sometime between 1817 and 1820. Apparently Anthony told Thomas that should anything happen to him, Thomas was to marry Teresa. And so that is what happened. My wife is related to Thomas, and I would like to find out more about him, and any more information further back in the lineage.

I am trying to find information on Samuel Norman Williams and his parents. He was born July 14, 1795 in Plymouth, Montgomery, Pennsylvania and died July 31, 1876 in Trappe, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. His wife's name was Maria Frederica Richards (Reiche) 1797-1892; they married in 1818. Together they had 9 children, one being Charles Valentine Williams.
In 1837 he bought a walnut farm on the Schuylkill River. Any help would be appreciated!

Bessie had four children: Maudie Williams born 4-5-1941 was her first child and was by this husband. Maudie was born in Trumann, Arkansas. She had a son names James Loyd Williams, and two others, but I think they were by other men (Betty and Thelma)

Maudie Williams married at age 14 to Lloyd Rhoades and had my mother: Brenda Rhoades born 1-8-1959 and she was also born in Trumann, Arkansas.

My brick wall is John Thomas Williams 1781- 1842. Because his son, Thomas Wynn, was born in Wales, I'm guessing John Thomas was born and died in Wales. I found a wife, Jane Williams,(nee Wynn)1782-1859.
Also, it sems that once my branch of Williams got here to America, they went to Colorado to work the mines. I was wondering if there are any Williams in the Golden, Denver, or Boulder Colorado areas who might be related to me. Thanks in advance.

Looking for information on James and Mary Davis Williams, born in Wilkes County, NC. They are parents of John Wesley Williams, born in 1843 in Lincoln County, NC. JW was married to Sarah Ann Willis and later to Sarah Ellen "Sallie" Rader. He died in 1923 and was buried in Morganton, NC, as were each of his two wives. His death certificate states his parents names and births in Wilkes County, NC. I cannot find anything further on James & Mary.

Warren "TED" Bruce Williams born 1837 (possibly in Rochester, New York??)- died 9 December 1918 in Nederland Colorado at his daughter Irene's house. According to the obituary his mothers Maiden name is "Haynes" and he was born in New York.
I was told that he came to Colorado via Missouri.
-WB Williams held a land patent -homestead entry dated 1890 to 170.15 acres in Boulder County , Co, Range 72-W.
-WB showed up on the 1860 Census as living in Virginia City, Carson, Utah Territory, US. His birth year is 1835, birthplace New York. He is listed with Louis B Wardle.
-WB showed up on the 1870 Census as living in Gilpin, Colorado Territory, US. His birth year is listed as 1834 and place of birth is New York. He is listed as being 36 years old and with John Derby and James Wands.
-WB Showed up on the 1880 Census as living in Boulder, Colorado, US.
*On this census he was listed as 43 years old, born in New Jersey and married to Maria Williams age 19. He had a daughter Oro Bell Williams (3) and a son, Carlisle Williams (who is actually a daughter who the family thought was named Mattie Kate, but in later years after she was married she changed her name to Nellie Katherine) (1). WB's fathers birth place is listed as New York, as is his mothers. His occupation is Farmer.
-WB showed up on the 1885 Census as living in Boulder, Colorado, US.
*On this census he is listed as married to Maria (although in the Census it shows up as "MANA") and has a daughter O.B.(8) (whose parents are listed as being born in Canada-father and Colorado-Mother), another daughter M.K.(Nellie Katherine)(6) parents are listed as being born in New York and Colorado, and Dreur (Irene) age 4 months and her parents are listed as being born in New York and Colorado. -WB showed up on the 1900 Census in Boulder Colorado Precinct 13. And as being 62 years old and born in Aug 1837 in New Jersey. He's supposedly Widowed (which we know is not true, he and Maria divorced in 1899. According to the divorce decree she got custody of the younger two kids, Charlotte and Warren Bruce Williams JR and moved to MO. Nellie and Irene went to MO with their mother, Irene got mad and went back to Colorado to stay with WB and is present on the 1900 census. Nellie got married shortly after to Harry Kuhn and moved to TX) WB's parents are both listed as being born in New York.

According to family WB Sr had two or three sisters, Charlotte Ann, Harriet Caroline and recently I have heard of Mary. I cannot find them together on any census even though they are close in age.
Charlotte and Harriet are said to have traveled with WB Sr to Colorado by ox wagon, but turned around and went back to NY because they were scared of the Indians.

I am at a brick wall with WB Sr's parents and sisters. Any help would be appreciated!
