Williams Lineages Underway
This
section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they
are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall
you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either
have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!
And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

I am a Williams descendant through my Mother's father, William Oscar Williams (1878-1988, Gadsden, TN). His father was Isaac Ike Williams (1846-1928,NC and Crockett County, TN), son of Joseph L Williams (1812-1859 Johnson, NC and Crockett County TN.) I believe that Joseph L. is the son of Adam Williams (1779-1873 Wayne NC) but proving this is my "brick wall."
I would be grateful for any proof or disproof of this.
thanks, E. Westermann

My brick wall is my g-g-g-grandfather John Williams. He is reported to have been born about 1814 in Yazoo County, MS and was in Saline County, MO by 1840. He married a Julia Davis and had 4 children; Sarah (she may have been born prior to his marriage to Julia), Joshua(my line), Ralph and Missouri A. John died abt. 1855 in Saline County, MO and possibly is buried somewhere in Chariton County MO.
I have been unable to find his family in the Yazoo County, MS area and would like to expand this line of my family.

My mother and the other three relatives are all buried in the Methodist cemetery in Lisbon, Louisiana. I was told that John, a Methodist minister, came to Louisiana from Georgia. I would like to know who their fathers were, but I can't find anything online.

I am looking for parents of Nimrod Williams who is my 6th or 7th times great grandfather. He was born in Bristol parish, Prince George, VA in 1740 and died in Warren, N.C. I'm trying to see how far I can go back to find out where our family came from and when they came to America.

My 2nd great grandfather's name was John Floyd Williams, born 6 Jun 1843, died 27 Mar 1932 Erath County TX. His spouse was Susan L. Price. Census records say his father was born in Virginia. His Death certificate says he himself was born in Tennessee and that his father was "B. Williams."
So far I haven't been able to find any other information on his birth or parentage.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks!

I am looking for information on the Anson WILLIAMS family living in LeRoy, Genessee, New York in 1812. He was married to Mary MOORE. He served in the War of 1812. He had a son Jerad married to Catyan BOVEE. Perhaps he had a grandfather Edward WILLIAMS who moved to Ontario Canada where Edward died in 1824. Barnabas HOWARD was married to Margaret MOORE-believed siter to ANson WILLIAMS wife, Mary. I am trying to figure out if Edward WILLIAMS is related to the MOORE side or the HOWWARD side. There was a death announcemeent in the paper at the time (1824):
"Longevity"
Died the 2nd inst. in the township of Ancaster, Gore district, Edward WILLIAMS, a native of London aged 99 years 5 months and 24 days, he served his apprenticeship to a gunsmith, then joined himself to the King's armoury, was sent to Scotland, then to Ireland, thereafter to America in time of the French war, suffered much toil and privation in traversing rivers, lakes and forests, from Quebec to Michilimackinac. At the close of this war he settled in New-England and after the revolution emigrated to New -York state, with his family, his wife bore him 15 children, eleven of them , I believe are alive and have large families, he has left many grandchildren, some of whom are nearly forty years old, are settled and have large families. In 1817 Mr. WILLIAMS came to spend his days with some of his children who had emigrated to this province. His senses were perfect until the day of his death, ten days before he died he was repairing a firelock in his little shop and could see to do the finest of work without the aid of spectacles; he died without a struggle. These particulars were communicated to me, last post by Mr. B. HOWARD of Flamboro' West, grand-son of the deceased. My grandfather was John Franklin Williams of Kilbourne Louisiana, his father was Benjamin Franklin Williams of Yazoo County, MS, (born in North Carolina around 1836 - so 1880 census says). His wife was Sara(h) Emfinger. I saw in the 1880 census that his mother's name was "N.Ratcliff" of North Carolina. He was a private in the confederate army and possibly wounded in the battle of Kennesaw. Despite our family geneologist's diligence, we cannot find his parentage. We think Benjamin's nickname was "Ager" and Sara's possible middle name was Elizabeth. He may have been in the 39th Mississippi regiment. His death is believed to be 1896 in Yazoo City, MS. I would be so greatful if anyone could give me another piece of this puzzle. I don't know what DNA testing would yield but would like to learn of its potential.
