Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

I'm researching the Williams line of my family tree and have hit a dead end on "Benjamin Franklin Williams" born abt. 1862 (based on the age listed on 1910 census record) He was married to Missouri Jowers best I can tell. I found her as Missouri Jowers Bridges, I assume the "Bridges" is from her first marriage.

One of their daughters (Beatrice Williams Henderson)is my GGM. She was rumored to be of Cherokee descent, but I can find no tie to that.

The only record I have any certainty on that shows BF Williams is the 1910 census that shows them in Lakewood, Walton, FL Here are the names listed there.

1910 Census - Lakewood, Walton, FL
B F Williams 48
Missourie Williams 36
Tollyaine Williams 11
Mattie Williams 8
Beatrice Williams 6 (my GGM)
Daisy Williams 4
Hermon Williams 0
[4/12]
Ella Bridges 17 (step daughter from Missouri first marriage)

In the 1920 census I found Missouri Williams in Florala, AL as a widow indicating that BF had passed between 1910 and 1920. I'm absolutely positive on this one, as it shows my GGF Garland living there with his new wife Beatrice.

1920 Census - Florala, AL
Missouri Williams 46
Mattie Williams 18
Herman Williams 10
Fletcher Williams 8
Jesse W Williams 4
[4 3/12]
Garlan Henderson 21
Beatrice Henderson 16

Any clues or insight would be hugely appreciated!

M earliest Williams Is Isaac H. (Probably Henry) born in 1804 in North Carolina. He married Clarienda McCoy who was also born in NC about 1816. They married in about 1834 and it is not know whether both were living in NC or Tennessee at the time of marriage although all of their children were born in Tennessee. the first record found is in the 1850 Census where they are living in South Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee. The have the following children at this time: Clarinda (Tolitha) Williams B. 1846 in Tennessee, Thomas J. B: 1841 in Tennessee; Amanda M. Williams B; 1840 in Tennessee; Robert T. Williams B: 1838 in Tennessee; Isaac newton Williams B; 1834 in Tennessee; James Henry Williams B; 29 February 1848 in Tennessee and Died 12 November 1922 in New Hope, Alabama. Isaac moved to Cole City, Dade, Georgia about 2 miles from the then Cole City RR just across the line from Marion County, TN. His son Isaac Newton either stayed in Nashville, married or moved away since he did not appear with them in the 1860 Census. Isaac H. died after 1870 and was more than likely buried at State Lind Cemetery near Nickajack Cave. It is not known about his wife.

I am the daughter of Allan Holt Williams (1911 - 1994)who was the son of Allan Vance Williams, who was the son of John Vance Williams, son of James A. Williams of Rome, Floyd County, GA.

James A. Williams married Elizabeth Dickerson in 1842 in DeKalb County, GA. James and his sons: Newton, Francis, George all fought for the Confederacy. On the census, my direct ancestor, John V. Williams, is actually shown as "John T", but its the same man.

John Vance Williams married Sarah Eveline Parks in 1876 at the Floyd County Courthouse, Rome, GA. Sarah died after the birth of her second son (she had only two boys - Parks and Allan) and John moved to Mississippi, remarried and had another family.

I am searching for the father of James A. Williams, and also the family of his wife, Elizabeth Dickerson Williams.

My brick wall is concerning my father's lineage. I get stuck at a William Henry Williams who was born around Oct 1851 in North Carolina (his parents were also from NC). The first record that I have been able to locate him on is a VA residence census in 1880 (Nansemond area of Chuckatuck County, VA). I have no knowledge of what area in NC he migrated from or any information on his parents or siblings. My research shows that William married a female named Josephfeen (no known last name)(B. ~1859) presumably around 1878 and had an infant son named John T Williams (b. sep 1879 d. 9 Dec 1881). His wife Josephfeen was born in VA (as were her parents) and dies at some point prior to 1889. William then marries Martha Eliza Martin in 1889. They have 5 children. William (1890-1963), Robert(1892-?), Elsie(1895-1957), Charles (1898-?), Ada (1905-?).

If anyone has any information on William Henry Williams (b.Oct 1851 d.13 Feb 1921) I would greatly appreciate the help. I'm specifically looking for info on his life prior to 1880. I know that in the 1880 census in VA, he was employed as an oysterman. I don't know anything about his first wife or where they were married other than the info that could be acquired from the single census record and their son's death record. Until I can obtain some info that points me in a direction in NC, my search is stalled. Help me please. Thank you.

Seeking definitive birth date and place of John Cralle Williams. Based on age stated at death, his year of birth was 1792. His parents were Joseph Williams and Mary Kenner Cralle of Northumberland County, Virginia. John Cralle Williams had siblings named Elizabeth, Catherine, and Joseph Cralle Williams.

Joseph, John Cralle Williams father, moved to Kentucky sometime during the 1790s and operated a Tobacco farm. Because of this movement, I am unable to determine the state of birth and have not, to date, found any document confirming his precise date of birth. I have confirmed that he is the son and sibling of the above mentioned family based on court records.
