Williams Lineages Underway
This
section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they
are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall
you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either
have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!
And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

I have hit a brick wall on my great grandfather, Edward Paul Williams. He was born in 1865 in Indiana and died in 1933 in Illinois. He was married to Addie Albertson. I have not been able to find any information on him other than his approximate birth year of 1865 in southern Indiana. I can't find any mention of his parents or his background. Please help if you can.

Thomas T Williams (b. 1819 in NC) married first to Lucy Edmiston, one son, named John Ivey Williams, and a daughter Sarah. Second marriage to Martha Elizabeth Hester in 1855. Last known area he lived was Hollow Square, Alabama in Greene County, He worked as a planter, other Williams in the area were Arminta Aurie Wilson Williams (widow)of Peter Williams (b.1808)residing in Hollow Square, Alabama, and owning a considerable piece of property, Samuel W. Williams her son. Because of Thomas Williams son's middle name being Ivey, I am really thinking that he may be part of the David Williams, Martha P Ivey family. But I have not ever seen mention of a son named Thomas for anyone in that clan fitting his birthday or having his middle initial, (unless that is in error). I think his middle initial "T" may be for Theopodelius, which I have not been able to track this person at all

I have come to a brick wall in looking for my 3rd great grandparents. I have record of a son JOHN WILLIAMS apparently born about 1808 in RHEA, TN whose daughter AMANDA is my direct great-grandmother. There is a hearsay story that JOHN changed his name when, as a boy, he knocked on a neighbors door and asked for food. They apparently took him in and gave him work. I don't know the name of the biological family or the family that took him in. Neither do I know where this took place. i am hoping that there is a family that may have a record of taking in a young boy in about 1815 that would verify this supposed account.
The only substantial record documented of him is of land purchase in 1829 in MT. PULASKI, LOGAN CO., IL where he was married and had 6 children, died and is buried in SANGAMON CO., IL. He had a brother named JESSE, a sister named ANNA WILLIAMS MCMOLON and a relative named GEORGE who was married and died in Arkansas about 1830. Any insight and further information is welcome.

Hello, I'm trying to trace back my husbands lineage. I'm looking for information traced to Surry Lee Williams born 1895 in North Carolina, married to Cora M Smith. We were told that somewhere along the way they are decendants of a native american line as well, I believe Cherokee.

My great grandfather Richard Gummoe married a Elizabeth Williams on March 5 1853 in England. Her father's name was Thomas, but I have no mother's name. She was born about 1835 as her age on the marriage records show her as being 18 years old. In the 1841 census there are several Thomas Williams with daughters named Elizabeth so I have no family connections (mother or siblings). In the 1851 census I think I have a connection as a servant (listed her birth place as Probus)which is the same as later years after her marriage.

I only know that my great-grandfather was Grissom M. Williams born abt 1946 to 1950 in Kentucky. I have found him living in Gallatin, Tennessee in 1870 married to a Mary Hunnicutt. He later married my great-grandmother Melinda Jane Blair in Nashville, TN.
I recently found a death certificate for Thomas Franklin Williams who was my great-grandfather's brother that says that his father was Marion Williams and his mother was Martha Dillard, possibly called Patsey. I hoped that this would lead me to my great-great-grandfather but so far I haven't found them in either Tennessee or Kentucky. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
