Williams Lineages Underway
This
section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they
are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall
you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either
have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!
And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

looking to find out more about Elias Williams
question is: is this the father of Edward Daniel Williams... was he married, was he born in Canada, did he have brothers or sisters here in Canada: sadly my tree stops cold at Elias Williams.
Scugog herritage-on line gives a few references: one that Elias was the first settler in Port Perry and this excerpt:
After the Indians moved to Mud Lake, the land which had been acquired for their benefit passed successively into other hands. From them it was purchased by Elias Williams, and afterwards by Peter Perry, Esq, of Whitby. Mr. Perry.
Edward Daniel Williams married to Sarah Anne Lakin, guessing around 1850, they raised 8 boys I believe,
one of their sons' (Scugog heritage excerpt)MADISON WILLIAMS is a native of Port Perry, the son of Edward Williams. For many years he conducted a liquor store business in town, selling it to Mr. W.S. Short in 1899.
In 1897 he purchased the valuable foundry of Paxton, Tate & Company, located on Perry St, near the corner of Paxton. The industry was one of the most valuable in the town, dating back more than 40 years. He died Dec. 2, 1934, at 78 years of age.
another son of Edward Daniel is: my great grandfather Aaron Williams (farmer reach township) whom was my dear grandmother Muriel Edythe Williams' father.

ELISHA (1) WILLIAMS born ca 1730 possibly in Wales, Pennsylvania or North Carolina,
married Martha (who upon Elisha's death married Caleb Downs.) Elisha and Martha's proven sons were Elisha (2), John and Benjamin (died a minor.)
The above information is documented in "Index of Abstracts and Deeds of Record of Pitt Co NC" by Judith Ellison Dupree. Original deeds on file in Pitt Co NC.
ELISHA (2) WILLIAMS is named in Pitt NC deed records as son of Elisha (1). Birthdate unknown, likely in Pitt Co NC. He is recorded as "of Edgecombe Co." Documents support (but do not prove)it is Elisha (2) who married Elizabeth Biggs, daughter of James Biggs of Martin Co NC. This Williams/Biggs marriage is documented in deeds of record on file in Martin County NC.
Elisha (3) Williams born ca 1790 likely in Pitt or Martin County NC. Likely son of Elisha (2) and Elizabeth Biggs. Elisha (3) moved to Stewart Co TN and purchased land there in 1813. John Stancill witnessed, a man who is heavily documented in Pitt Co NC. Elisha (3) married Mary (Polly) Reddick, daughter of Rice Reddick and Nancy Ross Reddick formerly of Martin Co NC but moved to Stewart Co TN. This Williams/Reddick marriage is documented through the settlement of Rice Reddick's will entered into the Stewart Co TN settlement and bonds records.
THE ASSOCIATED FAMILES (IE WITNESSES, NEIGHBORS, GRANTORS AND GRANTEES)NAMED IN PITT CO NC, MARTIN CO NC AND STEWART CO TN RECORDS STRONGLY SUPPORT THE ABOVE ELISHA WILLIAMS' AS BEING THREE GENERATIONS.
Please contact me with any information that will help prove this Elisha Williams line.

I am looking for John Williams, his wife (unknown), and their daughter, Katherine (abt 1660-after 1721), who married Stephen Fewell abt 1674. Indications are that John, Katherine, and Stephen immigrated to Virginia around 1674, settling in the Northern Neck area. I am descended from Stephen and Katherine's son, John (1690-abt 1743), who was born in Stafford County.

The relative furthest back that I can trace is William Williams. He was married to Susan Simonds. They both lived and died in Virginia. They had a son named Thomas Wellington Williams born 3/10/1830 died 9/11/1910. Thomas married Susan Elizabeth Rockefeller born 9/23/1841 died 12/11/1918. They had a few children, one who was named John Ashby Williams, my great great grandfather. I traced the Rockefeller line back, but there are just too many Williams families out there!
