Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

Descendants of James Charles Williams

Generation No. 1

1. James Charles1 Williams was born December 15, 1823 in Lawrence county Tennesee or VA, and died April 24, 1902 in Karbers Ridge, Hardin Co, Illinois. He married (1) Elizabeth Gray April 08, 1847 in Lawrence co tenn. She was born 1824 in Tennessee, and died December 24, 1862. He married (2) Sarah Ann Hawk* March 30, 1865 in Hardin co Ill, daughter of Samuel Hawk* and Elizabeth*. She was born 1836 in Ohio, and died 1910.

Notes for James Charles Williams:
Obituary: Williams, James C. - James C. Williams born in Lawrence Co., TN, Dec. 15, 1823, departed this life at his home in the village of Karbers Ridge April 24, 1902. He was married to Elizabeth Gray in 1846. Seven children blessed this union, three sons and four daughters James J. Williams, Sarah J., John H., Mary F., Marion W., Lovenia Ann, Margaret Eveline. His companion and two children, Mary Francis and Margaret Eveline preceded him to the spirit world. In 1861 he enlisted in the service of his country and continued faithfully to battle against the "Great Rebellion" till his discharge in 1864. In 1865 he married Anna Curry, widow of the late John Curry, who was also a union soldier. Six children were given to brother Williams by his last marriage; one of whom died quite young. The other five, Thomas M., Charles L., Robert E., Belle, wife of Jonas Spivey and Milas, still live to mourn the loss which no human power can restore. But thanks be to our father, they "Sorrow not even as others which have no hope" for brother Williams professed saving faith in Christ and united with the M.E. Church in Tennessee while quite young, and in 1886 he joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Karbers Ridge, and was ordained a ruling elder. When the church there disorganized, brother Williams attached himself to the same denomination at Central, and lived a faithful member until the Lord called him from labor to reward. A short time before life death, he told his companion that he did not fear to die, for his way was clean; and when his daughter, Belle, came to see him, not with standing his feeble condition he even shouted praises to GOD for sparing him to see to her once more in this life. A few minutes before he died he told Robert E. Williams, his son, that he was going home and wanted him to go with him. The funeral was preached by the writer at Central to a large and attentive audience and he was interred in the adjoining cemetery on Friday, April 23, 1902. May God's grace be with the bereaved-ones, and turn this stroke of divine providence to the salvation of those yet unsaved. By: Ira E. Driver.

Notes for Mary Belle Williams:
Mary Bell Williams b: 22 OCT 1866 in Hardin Co., IL

Children: DEATH: Death has entered the home of Jonas and Belle Spivey and took from them their darling baby, Hobart, and transplanted into the paradise of God. He was born Aug. 13, 1900, age 3 years and 9 days. He was laid to rest in the Central grave yard.
Dear parents, weep no more for dear little Hobart, for he has gone a joined the heavenly host and while it seems hard it is little Hobart's gain.
We lay thee in thy silent tomb. Sweet blossoms of the day: We just begin to view the bloom, When thou art called away: At last released from pains, Our little darling sleep: How calm and peaceful thy repose, While Christ thy soul doth keep.

Obituary for Hildred Milligan, Hardin County, Illinois

Again on Dec. 10th. 1923 the death angel visited the home of Clyde and Essie
Millligan and called their precious little baby girl, Hildred Berniece, home
to be with Jesus. She was born March 13, 1922 being at the time of her death 1
year, 7 months and 27 days.

Little Hildred's life was short here, but she made her journey from earth to
heaven. It is hard to give up a little one after learning to love her so
well, but we have the assurance of meeting her some day. We grieve not as
those who have no hope, for our loss is heaven's gain.

Funeral services were conducted by C.E. Johnson, and her little body was laid
to rest in the Good Hope Cemetery to await the coming of Jesus.

BRICK WALL:
I'm not sure who the father of G.W.Williams was. There is a very credible possibility, but it remains unsubstantiated at this time. 1)James Williams b 1804 SC and Mary Phelps b 1811 Green co, MS. GW was apparently deceased by 1880. Son Walter was living with uncle George Batley, next door to Jasper Williams and family. (I find no record of GW or wife Sarah in that or later censuses) George Batley had married Sarah Williams. James (in nearby Greene co.) had a daughter, Sarah Williams and a son named George Williams. Unfortunately, both George and Sarah were common names.

I would like to find other descendents from James (who lived in Greene co, MS most of his life) to see if we have a dna match.

James's father and mother were Benjamin and Sarah Turner Williams, both b. SC.

Genetically, the DNA lines seem to come to NC from Va.
We're in Group 31 (Andrew 36902) I would love to get more information on the other lines in that group.

There seems to be some question as to #1, first generation asto where he is from. I've seen in some genealogies that he is confused with his son, 2 ii.
Plus #9 - Solomon Williams came to Indian Territory (Pauls Valley, OK) This is my great grandfather and I don't know why he left Missouri to come here.
Can anyone help?

My brick wall is my GGGGrandfather Daniel Williams b. about 1796 in S. Carolina although some records claim he was born in Guilford Co., N Carolina. All census records list S. Carolina.

Daniel moved to Ohio at the age of 14. I don't know if he came with anyone or not or who he stayed with.

He married Rebecca Coons in 1819 and they had 6 children: Amos Addison, James Madison, Easter Caroline, George Milton, John Smith and Daniel Follic. There were 3 other children also living in the home: Rachel Ellen, Elizabeth Jane and Evelyn, however, I believe they were products of Rebecca's first marriage to George Millar.

Rebecca died in 1851. On July 10 1852 Daniel married Ellen Bolin, my GGGGrandmother. They had 6 children:
1. Marion Birch b.14 Oct 1853
2. William W. b. 11 Mar 1855
3. Rebecca Jeanette b. 02 Dec 1855
4. Martha Florence b. 12 Aug 1859
5. Charles G. b. 23 Sep 1867-----my GGGrandfather
6. Louie Frank b. 16 Apr 1872

Daniel died on 29 Apr 1882 in Highland Co., Ohio.

I can't find any info on Daniel's parents except that his father was born in Maryland and his mother was born in Ireland.

He had 12 children!! One of them had to know more about his history and maybe passed it down. I hope someone out there can help!!!
