I'm searching for the burial place of my 2nd great grandmother. She was Jane Wilburn, daughter of Richard Wilburn and Susannah Roberts, born 27 November 1800 in Surry County, NC. She was married to William Williams (b. 2 July 1800 in Surry Co., NC) circa 1825 in Surry Co., NC. She died 24 December 1863 in Pickens Co., GA. I would appreciate any information and suggestons you might have. I've searched all of the published cemetery books for Pickens Co. When William and Jane Williams moved from NC to GA their land was in Cherokee Co., but when Pickens Co., was formed from parts of Cherokee and Gilmer counties, it was put in Pickens Co., so I've also checked published cemetery books of Cherokee Co. I live in TX and am unable to visit the counties in person.

My brick wall is William Absalom Williams, born January 03, 1773. I do not have the place of birth. He died January 19, 1842. He was married to Mary Hudson in Lunenburg County, Virginia, December 25, 1798. Absalom was my fourth great grandfather. He may have been in North Carolina before moving to Virginia and then Tennessee. His son Edwin was married to Bursheba Davis. Absalom, his son, David and grandson, John Thomas, owned cotton gins and lumber mills and stores in Lauderdale, Tennessee.

My line is William Absalom, Edwin, John Thomas,George Robert, William Ruben and my mother Sadie Lucille. Daniel Williams, son of my grandfather's brother, tested for me in the DNA project. Our group is #20

There are many land purchases by John H. Williams according to the Bureau of Land Managment from 1825 until 1886.
It is know that some of the above children moved to Texas with Mary Mahans' sister and her husband. No records can be found of the actual death of John H. and Mary or of John H. Williams parents. Seeking any information and help.
The above Milton was acutally John Milton Williams and I have all of the information on him, as he's my ggrandfather. Also have much information on James and his family in Texas.

Looking for anyone interested in John Farrar Williams, born in Liberty County, Georgia, on 2 Dec 1802. His father was Cornelius Williams, and mother was Elizabeth Farrow/Farrar. (They were married in Liberty County, GA on 28 Nov 1787.)

John Farrar Williams was married 4 times: 1) Eliza Ester Shepard, m. 1820 Liberty County, GA and had at least 3 children; 2)Catherine Elizabeth Whitfield, m. 12 Aug 1830 in Yazoo County, Mississippi and had 8 children; 3)Caroline L. Mallory, m. 31 May 1849 in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas and had 4 children; 4)Eugenia L. Stovall, m. 23 Apr 1873 in Harrison County, Texas.

John Farrar Williams was a merchant in Liberty County, Georgia, and then became a lawyer and judge, practicing in Texas and Louisiana. He died one day short of his 76th birthday on 2 Dec 1878 in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas.

Would be happy to share 35+ years of research with anyone connected to this family.

Gen 1 James W. Williams born 11 Jan 1789 KY, died 07 Feb 1847 in Daviess Co., IN. On 01 Feb 1809 in Fleming Co., KY he married Mary Planck born 1782 VA Died 01 April 1857 Daviess Co., IN. By the 1830 census they & their 5 sons were all living in Daviess County, IN. I have no names for any daughters that may have been born to them, but I do have some records on 5 sons:

Peachee and Rebecca Rigdon. She died in 1858 but was never found in any census. William was never located after the death of his wife and never located in any census with her....

Clarinda Williams was born abt June 1843 in Maine. Her parents were born in Maine according to her 1880 and 1900 census records.

Clarinda Williams married William F. DeLaittre on 19 Dec. 1862 in Monticello, Aroostook, Maine. They were located in Aroostook, Maine in 1870 census and Minnesota in 1880 and 1900 census years.

d: 25 Sep 1992 in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California. He married Lora Belle MARQUESS (aka Sally McCoy) on abt.31 Jul 1937. She was born 27 Feb 1908 in Oklahoma, d:24 Jan 1991 in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California. She was the only daughter of Valna Belle Ledbetter and Delmer Harrison Marquess. Lora's mother died in childbirth and she was raised by Gertrude Marquess-McCoy (Delmer's sister) and her husband Charles McCoy in Colorado.
Lora Belle most often went by "Sally McCoy-Williams".
Jack and Sally had two sons, six grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren at the time of their passing. The family has grown since.

Allumbee Williams was a Revolutionary soldier. He lived on the Troy and Millwood(12 miles NW of Troy) Road, on the farm now belonging to William Fasse-...the old James Trail place. His cabin stood across the road northeast from the old Trail house, almost under the hill and near the spring. He was a member of the first grand jury of Lincoln County, Missouri

AFTER DOING A SEARCH TO LOCATE "ALLENBY" IN ALL IT'S POSSIBLE FORMS I DISCOVERED JOHN ABBOTT DESCENDANTS WITH THE NAME IN SEVERAL GENERATIONS AND TRACED THEM TO THE FOLLOWING EXCERPT BY BARBARA FLEMING.

Allumbee Williams was born in Dorchester County, Maryland in 1757, and moved to Guilford county, North Carolina in 1780 where he enlisted in the North Carolina Continental Line.

John Abbott grew up near Chesapeake Bay, MD. [112]

John Abbott was in the Revolutionary War. His record states "he enlisted on 1 June 1781 at Guilford Court House in the county of Guilford, state of N. Carolina for the term of 1 year, in the company commanded by Captain William Little, company commanded by Major James Armstrong.

John and Allumbee spent the first 2 months of their enlistment "headquartered at the High Hills of Snatee, South Carolina".

In page 5 of the military is a sworn statement of Sol. Solomon Mitchell that John Abbott and Allenbee Williams left their homes about the year 1781 for the purpose of enlisting in the Rev. Service. They were gone upwards of twelve months, then they returned, and they brought him their discharges which he read and recollects they were honourable discharged, which were signed by Gen. Green. [62]

John Abbott was discharged on 1 June 1782 "at the big springs near Dorchester and about 18 miles from Charlestown". [62]

[Note A: John Abbott's February 1833, Greene County, Indiana, Declaration for Pension states that at the time of his court appearance he had lived in
Indiana 'for nearly five years' (1828-1833),
Tennessee 'about twenty-five years' (1803-1828),
and the 'remainder of the time in South Carolina and North Carolina' (1780-1803)].

It is believed that John Abbott married Margaret Williams, daughter of Edward Williams, in Dorchester County, Maryland, prior to his moving to Guilford County, North Carolina, in 1780, with his father-in-law Edward and brother-in-law Allumbee to establish a new family frontier foothold..

William Williams is the first known ancestor in my Williams family. William was born about 1816/17 in Llanddewi Brefi, Cardiganshire, Wales.

It is not known when he left Cardiganshire, but by 1851 William was working as a miner in the industrial town of Dowlais in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire. He and his family lived in the neighborhood known as “The Cwm.” In 1861, William lived at 27 Ivor Newtown, but by 1871 lived at 42 Broad Street, where William would live the rest of his days while he toiled away in the Dowlais mines.

William married a Mary Griffiths, who was born in 1821 in Llangeitho, Cardiganshire; in the early to mid 1840s probably just before they left for Dowlais. Once in Dowlais, William and Mary had the following children:

William died before 1881. In 1881, Edward was unmarried and living with his mother Mary. A grandson named William, born in 1875, was also living with Mary, but it is uncertain whose son he was. Mary died before 1891.

As far back as I'm able to go with my Williams line is John H. Williams, my gggrandfather, b. 1800 NC, d. March 1891 Walker Co., Ala. He was a JP in Coosa Co., Ala. and his name is on many official documents, especially marriages. John m. Mary Mahan after 1826, probably in Jackson Co., Al. however, this is pure speculation. There were many land purchases by him in Fayette Co.,Elmore Co., Shelby Co.,Jefferson Co.,and Decalb Co. He was found on the Census for Coosa Co., and again on the 1850 Census for same county. I have all of their childen and what happend to most of them, but my great mystery is why John's wife, Mary Mahan's sister, Rutha and her husband took several of these children and moved to Anderson Co., Tex. What happend to John H. Williams and his wife, Mary Mahan that this would happen?
