Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

Looking for any information on Rachel WILLIAMS. She was b c1842 KY; her father NC; her mother KY. She had a 1/2 brother Robert Hicks b c1824 KY. My guess is that Rachel's mother and Robert's father died before 1840 possibly in KY. Robert & wife Polly (Williams?)are in Breathitt Co KY 1850. He married Abigail Bourland in Franklin Co AR in 1854. It appears that Rachel & her sister Elizabeth moved from KY to AR with Robert and his children. Rachel married Jasper Wisdom in Franklin Co AR 1857. Any help appreciated.

Richard Williams born 1864 possibly in Kentucky. All census records state he was mulatto and married Clara Robinson, 1875 who was Native American. I'm not sure where she came from but my grandfather was raised on a reservation in upstate NY. He has one two siblings listed on a census record from 1898 or so, Beverly and Alice whom I couldn't read her bdate, might not be a sibling. Beverly died from possibly scarlet fever or small pox. My grandfather always spoke fondly of how red her hair was. He was Lawrence Williams born 10/1898 at that time they lived in Upstate NY. I was told that he had an uncle that seemed to vanish in thin air and have found three other Williams connections that have the same story but two with different names. I was also told that my greatgrandmother died with her children and my grandfather was the only surviving. His father took him to live with aunts and uncles on a reservation around the age of 10. He lived or worked in Binghamton when he was app 17 where me met my grandmother who lived in Auburn. Her name was Isabel Margaret Williams born 1900 app. They moved to Syracuse where the census records state Richard, Lawrence, Beverly, Margaret Alice, Mary Elizabeth, Lynne and Jane as their children. Beverly and Lynne passed away and are buried in Oakwood Cemetary in Syracuse. I am very curious about my great grandparents. I have one picture of Richard and only know that he might have been a farmer in Upstate NY. He may have also married a lady named Hattie after Clara passed away. I have seen a picture of Grandma Clara. If anyone can help with any details I would greatly appreciate it.

I am trying to link my 7th gen. gr. father Rueben Williams to someplace in England. I have the following information: Rueben Williams born in England 1718, married a miss Bevel. Migrated to Virginia, joined the Continental Army. Rueben died during the war in 1788 and buried on the Hudson River, Beacon, N. Y. Son James married Elizabeth Blackburn in 1775. James served as a 2nd Lt., 1st. Lt. and Capt with the Tenth Virginia Regiment. He died in 1823 and buried in Virginia. James and Elizabeth Blackburn Williams had a son, Stephen Williams born 12/7/1785 and was married to Elizabeth Kinman of Virginia. Elizabeth was born 7-11-1784. John and Elizabeth migrated to Sumter County Georgia in 1836, one mile north of Smithville, Georgia. Stephen died 2-17-1853 and Elizabeth died 11-12-1856. Both were buried in what is now the Williams Cemetery on the Plain-Smithville Road.

I have much more if anyone is interested. Family branches to the Godby family.

My mother, Aileen Williams was born Feb. 17, 1906 in Healdsburg, CA and her father, William Claude Williams was born Dec. 21, 1877 in Lemoore, CA. His father is where the research stops. Thomas C. Williams was born in MO, served in the Miss. 1st Light Artillery of the Confederate Army between 1862 and 1863 and that's about all I know. He married a Davis, supposedly kin to Jefferson Davis, tho that might be family legend vs. fact. Obviously went to California after the Civil War. Anyone have more on Thomas C. Williams?

My ancestor Oren Capron Williams was born in 1822 in Saratoga county, New York. I believe that his parents were Gideon Williams and Eunice Cowles, Gideon died in Wyoming county, New York before 1850 where I found Eunice(Fanny) and her sons Oren and Lyman..

Oren Capron Williams married Adeline Grover, daughter of Kenney Grover and Elizabeth Walker. Oren and Adeline had two daughters Alta A. and Mary Emma. Adeline died in 1852 and Oren married Susan Letitia Lanning, daughter of Martin Lanning and Olive Judith Mosher.

I would like to confirm that Gideon and Eunice were the parents of Oren.

Thank you
Margo

I have only vague bits of information regarding my g-grandfather Charles Albert WILLIAMS (born in Illinois). He was married to Mary Lyngstead (born in Norway) and had at least one son, Harry (born around 1902 in Omaha, NE). It seems Charles died when Harry was a young boy. Mary (Lyngstead) WILLIAMS remarried and lived in the Omaha area until the mid 1930s - early 1940s, then either died or moved away. I've had no luck locating Charles and Mary in the 1900-1910 censuses.

My grandfather Harry had relatives in the Chicago, IL area. He once ran away from home and for a while (I'm guessing between 1912-1920) lived with an uncle who worked as a tailor. Another uncle may have been a policeman. Unfortunately I do not know if these relatives were members of the WILLIAMS or Lyngstead family.

I hope this information sounds familiar to someone. Any help would be welcome!
