Williams Lineages Underway
This
section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they
are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall
you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either
have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!
And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

My mother was a Williams. I have traced our line back through Ontario, Canada to Moyne, Wicklow, Ireland. My latest ancester, coming from Moyne to Canada, was George Enry (Henry?) Williams, born 1832. His first daughter was named Alicia. I do see an Alicia Williams in Moyne, Wicklow on Griffith's Valuation Index.
My lineage is as follows,
Grandfather: John Idris Williams
Great Grandfather: John Roger Williams
Great Great Grandfather: George Enry Williams (Moyne, Wicklow)
Many thanks,
Nancy Hipwell

William T. Williams is the HOH in McDowell County, NC. He is a shoemaker and they have no real estate value listed (assuming that they own no real estate). The other members of the household are his wife, Anna Unknown, and a small son, James. I haven't been able to find them in any other censuses.
James shows up in his own household in the 1870 census in McDowell County, NC, with a wife, Sarah Elizabeth Bartlett, a son, William, and a stepson. James is a railroad laborer and, again, seemingly owns no property. This family is on the 1880 census with an additional child and the wife's mother living with them. The father is still a railroad worker and no real estate is noted.
In 1900, his son William shows up in a household as a house painter who is renting a house--still in McDowell County, NC. This information remains essentially the same until the 1920 census when the census indicates that the family now owns a home.
Anything look familiar? Would love to compare notes!

PS--I have four exact matches with 25 markers, but they are all of the last name Hall.

I'm STILL looking for parents or siblings of William W. Williams -- for about 15 years now. He was born (according to his military papers) in Frederick, VA between 1815-1821. He had a son Will in 1834 and a daughter before he left Virginia in 1837. No mother can be found for the 2 kids. He married Phebe Beedle in 1837 and had about 5 kids. She died in 1858. He then married Sandra A Day in 1857 in Ohio, and had one kid. In 1860, he married Susan Graver in Clinton, IL, and had one kid. In 1867, he married Mary Kocher in Decatur, IL, and had about 5 kids. I am descended from Mary Kocher. He was with the Illinois Volunteers during the Civil War on the Union side. He died at age 87 in Warrensburg, IL. The only "real" clue we have is that we know is that his parents owned slaves, and he "hated slavery," which is probably the reason he left Virginia -- or didn't want to marry the girl(s) who had his babies? ANY leads will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Hi,
I'm about to give up. I've been searching for 15 years for the parents and/or siblings of William W. Williams born in Frederick County, VA, between 1815 and 1821. His military pension records give all of those inclusive dates. He had a son, Will, in 1834, and probably a daughter before he left VA in 1837. No mention of a mother of the kids. He married Phebe Beedle in 1837 and had several kids. She died in 1858. In 1857, he married Sandra A Day of Ohio. They had one kid. In 1860, he married Susan Graver in Clinton, IL, and had one kid. In 1867, he married Mary Kocher in Decatur, IL, and had several kids. I'm descended from Mary. He died in Warrensburg, Illinois in 1903 at the age of 87.
The only thing we know for sure is that his parents owned slaves, and he HATED slavery.
I've been through military records, ships manifests, censuses, tax records, land records. There are several of Williams in that county during that time, but I can't make any positive connections. I'm assuming that is parents are Welsh descent, and probably not a criminal or indentured servant, since he owned slaves. I tried to get emigration documents for that period from Wales, but there don't seem to be any.
ANY leads would be GREATLY appreciated.
THANKS!

As Kermit the Frog says, "It's not easy being green".I feel the same goes for anyone named Williams trying to trace his/her lineage in Maryland.
Anyway, for the last year, my Williams search has been dead-ended at Joseph and Mary Williams (a white family) living somewhere near PG County, Maryland in the early 1800's. They had a son named George W. who was probably born there (c. 1826). George W. married Harriet L who probably was also born there (c.1830). After they were married, George W. and Harriet moved to Grafton, Taylor County, West Virginia, probably looking for work on the RR.
I hired a professional to search PG records in the Maryland Archives and came up with zilch. Does anyone in the Williams-Web have any clues or advice?

I am in search of any information from my fathers family history of Williams. I do not have much history given that my father was born at home in 1933 and both his parents died when he was young. So the years that each were either born or decessed is not something I have had access to. Any information or guidence on how to conduct a geology search would be greatly appreciated.
