Williams Lineages Underway
This
section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they
are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall
you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either
have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!
And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

My Brik Wall, ordered from myself to my "Brick Wall" is as follows: Ella Williams (Mother), Oscar Roten Williams (Grand Father), Wiley "Yank" Williams (Great Grand Father), Mr. Williams (Great Great Grand Father) and Cerokee Woman (Great Great Grand Mother).
Family story (Trail of Tears (Great Great Grand Mother):
The story through the family is: The parents of Wiley Williams (unknown names) were living in North Carolina and they were required to leave their home because Mr. Williams was a white man married to an Indian woman. The family moved to Tipton County, Tennessee where Wiley was born, and (according to family history) he saw the soldiers come and take his mother away - what we now call the Trail of Tears. We have been told that Wiley had a brother Theopolis. There is no documentation for any of this story other than Wiley's Civil War records that gives his date and place of birth. There are no names of his parents, no reference to siblings. We know that Wiley and Mary Jane Wroten had several children. We also know that wife #3, Margaret Backwood Dildine had two children with Wiley. They were Wiley M. Williams and Haskel Williams. Wiley M. was married to Ollie ??, information through 1930 census records of Arkansas, and they had one son at that time named Vernon H. Williams.

Migrated from Melindwr, LLandadarnfawr (Capel Bangor, Cardiganshire) Wales to Wilkes Barre, Luzerne County, PA, and they changed their name from Sylvanus to Williams. William Sylvanus Williams was the first to come to the US in 1871. If you have a family member (male or female) with the middle name Sylvanus you are probably related to my line. The family has been and are continuing to research and have not yet been able to find the names of James Thomas Williams parents {found info that says James Thomas father was born in South Carolina; his mother was born in Georgia - we at this time do not have names, birth and death dates of James Thomas father and mother) and any and all data information pertaining to them so as to continue with his genealogy heritage line before him and your help in our quest would be very much appreciated. We have the line after him - just need family genealogy data info as to his parents names, dates, siblings etc. Would appreciate any and all help in locating James Thomas Williams parents, whether or not James Thomas had any siblings, and also locating his grandparents and great-grandparents etc.

I am Laura Avery (nee Williams) Brown. I was born in Covington, Georgia on May 15, 1970 to: Walter Steve Williams (April 13, 1918- July 7, 1993) and Lavinia (nee Wallwork) Williams (December 1, 1940 to present).
Walter Steve Williams was born in Catawba County, NC to Ira Elmer Williams May 14, 1881-8 February 1955) Ira was married to Claudia Adelaide Hefner. (His siblings were: Frederick, Offit, Arthur, Richard, Ruth, and Katherine) There should also be a 'Charles' in there, too...but for some reason he's on the ancestry.com line!
Ira Elmer Williams was born to (we believe) George G. Williams who was born somewhere in NC (we assume the western mountainous area) around 1810 and died around 1870 (relatively in the same geographic area). His mother was Lucinda Williams who we believe was born in the same region of NC sometime around 1814.
And that's sort of where we run into a dead end. My father always told me stories of how our line was Welsh in origin and I'm hoping that someone can help us fill in the blanks.
Any help would be appreciated!

Benjamin Williams is my 4th great grandfather. The paternal descent goes from
Benjamin Williams > Benjamin Selah Williams > James Pitt Williams > Hollis Valcoulon Williams > Walter Leo Williams > Howard Aaron Williams > Me (Serena)
I know that Benjamin Williams was likely born in Hartford, Connecticut and moved to Meigs, Ohio, marrying Electa Higley in 1807.
While I'm able to find a few Benjamin Williams living in Connecticut in the late 1700s, I cannot determine if any of them are my ancestor.
If you have any information that connects to my tree, I'd love to be in contact.
Thanks!

I am new to all this genealogy stuff, and I have virtually no information to go on. My grandmother's name is Winona (Williams) Pettypiece. Her father's name was Elijah (Lige) Williams, her mother was Allie (Kelly) Williams. At the time of the 1920 census Elijah was 21 and Allie was 20. They had one son listed as Bradly whom was 2 1/2 yr.old. I have searched in previous census records of Harlan County, but have had no luck locating Elijah on them. I am trying to find out who his parents were. It has his birthplace listed as Kentucky, but it does not list the county. Anyone with any information on Elijah please contact me. I would be forever grateful!!! Thank you!

I am searching for the parents of Joseph Williams b about 1748. He married Martha Parrott ca 1767/8 as their first child, Henry Williams was b Aug. 1769. Joseph Williams was a Rev. War Patriot, severing 1778-1780. He and his family were living in Duplin County, NC after the Rev. War. In 1797 he deeded land in Duplin Co. to sons Parrott Williams, William Williams and Hezekiah Williams. His sons, Parrott, Hezekiah and Henry married Rhoda, Nancy and Eunice Herring, d/o of Joseph Herring and Unicy Uzzell.
Joseph Williams moved to Anson County, NC in 1801/2. He was a Primitive Baptist preacher, helping to establish many churches in the area of Anson County and the upper part of SC. Joseph Williams d July 6, 1825 and his obit stated he was 77 years old. Martha died July 8, 1825 a little less than 2 days after Joseph. This duel obit states she was 2 years younger than Joseph.
Any help will be much appreciated.
