Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

Can't get past Green Williams Sr.,
Born: March 24, 1808 in Ceffo, Cumberland County N.C. Died: July 16, 1870 in Roxboro, N.C. or Cunningham, Person County
Buried: Williams-Pointer Family Cemetery
Married: Elizabeth Ann Pointer (Ann Elizabeth Pointer) on August 30, 1838 in Halifax, Virginia.

They were very close to the Wade, Pointer, and Haywood families in that area and many marriages took place between their sons and daughters.

One of his son's was Green Williams Jr. who was In 1891, Police Chief of Danville.

Anyone else out there have relations with this line and know who Green Williams Sr. father was?
Thank you

My 'brick wall' is my gggrandpa James A. (Jim) Williams (grave marker shows birth date to be 22 Sep 1845 in Mississippi- death 19 Jul 1918 in Louisiana) who married Drucilla Parker (marker shows birthdate 17 Mar 1849 in Mississippi - death 09 June 1910 in Pollock, Grant Parish, Louisiana)about 1865-66. Drucilla's parents were Simon and Elizabeth Parker. In 1880 census the Williams family is in the 6th Ward, Winn, Louisiana; 1900 Census 6th Ward, Winn; 1910 Census Bentley, Grant, Louisiana. Both buried Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Bentley, Grant, Louisiana. Children: Allen Franklin (1867-1957; Robert (Bob) 1872-?; Evarilla Drucilla (Eva), 1874-1951; Isabel(Bell) 1877-1970; Walter G. 1879- ?; Horace Deloney 1882-1956; Jesse Anna 1885-1968 and James Earl 1887-1961. Allen Franklin (my ggrandpa) married Mary Ann Blair 21 Jul 1892 in Grant Parish, Louisiana (I have copy of marriage certificate on record in courthouse in Colfax). Their children were Lillie Mae 1895-1980; Alma Ellen 1897-1982; Baby 1901-1901; Walter Dawson 1903-1943; Baby 1905-1905; Clyde Richard 1908-1975; and Baby 1913-1913. The surviving children were born in Louisiana and the family came to Texas before the death of Mary Ann in a buggy accident in 1913. Walter Dawson (my grandpa) married Eula Vivan Allen 7 Feb 1926 and my daddy, Walter Carrol Williams was born 25 Aug 1927 in Waco, McLennan, Texas, married Anna Elaine Todd 27 Dec 1949; and passed away 10 Sep 2009. I have visited the graves of James A. and Drucilla Parker Williams in Bentley. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated as I have absolutely no hints as to siblings or parents of James A. Thanks in advance for your help. Pat

Common knowledge and records in my family of the more current generations and an autosomal DNA test show ancestors to the larger Williams family. I have traced only the following. Past Malinda Ellen Ward, this line is based on hints (mostly of family trees on ancestry.com, and thus the equivalent of rumor).

I have a period photo of Malinda Ellen Ward that was my mother's. She was called "Granny" in the Burnett household. She seems a grim Scots. William Ward Burnett, son of "Granny," was a wrangler of longhorns from SW TX to Kansas City, a poor itinerant worker and skin and bones. His much younger wife was a town girl of the Owen family. They had three children. Edna divorced Ward, and took her two daughters to Los Angeles, and told them they had to quit high school. Edna married a wealthy man in CA, and had no more issue.

(Of minor interest: Wm Moses Burnett's mother was Mary Bowie of the John and James Bowie family.)

The Williams-Ward-Burnett line:

Edward Williams, b.1725 (or 1731?), Maryland, USA, d. ?, m. Sibbilla Davis (1 Mar1726 - 23 Feb 1782, Chester, PA). M., Philadelphia, PA. 14 Apr 1746.

Edward and Sibbilla are parents of:
Allumbe Williams Sr. (1757, Dorchester, MD – 13 May 1835, Lincoln MO) m. Sarah “Sally” Unknown [Clark?], b. 17 Feb 1792, Lincoln KY – d. TX; married in Lincoln MO, n.d.
[If Nancy Clark, other data must be added.]

Allumbee and Nancy’s son is
Job Williams (1782, North Carolina – 14 April 1853, Jackson, TX), m. Nancy Campbell, 1872, NC – 14 April 1851 Jackson, TX (married in Sumner TN, 10 Oct 1804)

Job and Nancy’s daughter is:
Azubah Williams (15 Mar 1814, Lincoln, Benton, MO – 2 May 1908, Carrizo Springs, Dimmit, TX) m. Russell Ward (13 Mar 1812, Scott, KY – 1 April 1864, Morales, Jackson, TX)

Azubah and Russell's daughter is
Malinda Ellen Ward (8 May 1841, Jackson, TX - 8 Mar 1932, Carrizo Springs, TX) m. William Moses Burnett (1837-1895)

Their son is William “Ward” Burnett (1871, Utopia, Uvalde, TX – 1945, Fresno, Fresno, CA), m. Edna Iona Owen, b. 27 Aug 1888 - d. 17 Sept 1972, Bakersfield, Kern, California.

“Ward” and Edna’s daughter is:
Burnis “Bernice” Lucille Burnett, b. 10 Feb 1910, Carrizo Springs, TX – 1 Oct 1989, San Diego California. m. Rudolf “Ralph” Hilse, b. 12 Jan 1907, Frankfurt Germany, - 18 Mar 1984, San Diego, California.

I saw a photo once of a wild looking man in the Williams line, who a family member said was a shepherd and "sick in the head." I'd like to know more about him.

I'm afraid I have very little to report. My 3rd great grandmother was Laura Williams Vallette. Her parents were listed as John P. Williams (possibly Peter) and Laura Roberts who were reportedly married in Beaufort, North Carolina (date unknown). Laura, their daughter, was born in Franklin/Dearborn County Indiana in April 28, 1828. She later married William P. Vallette, and they lived also in Springfield, Hamilton Ohio at one time. On the 1850 censue, John P. Williams is listed as age 72 living in the Vallette household. He died on July 8, 1851. In the obituary of Laura Williams Vallette (she died August 16, 1928.100 years old!) it says that she was raised by her grandparents, but I am not sure why. Perhaps her mother, reportedly a Laura Roberts, died. John P. Williams is listed as being born in 1778 in New York. He possibly has a US Seaman Protection document with declaration date May 23, 1804 in New Orleans. I am not sure what this means, actually. I have always wondered if John Williams had another family. In 1850, he is listed as age 72 which makes me think that he may have been married before, had other children, etc. Laura Williams Vallette, his daughter, is listed as being in her twenties. It's hard to believe that John Williams would have only had one child in his 50's back then. I would be so grateful to find out anything about John P. Williams and his wife or any other family. His daughter Laura moved eventually to Edwards County, Illinois where she lived the rest of her life. She eventually had 14 children! Please contact me if you have any information mmtullis@htc.net

Looking for information on J.A.Williams (James Addison) who was born in Montona in 1884 and died in Florida in 1945. His first wife was Laura, with whom he had two sons, Harry, and Jack who may have been J.A. Williams Jr. His second wife was Willie Mae or Myrtle Tipton with whom he had a son, Joseph D. in 1933. His father may have been Lucius Williams. In the 1930s he lived in Texas and possibly in Albany, Ga in the early 40's.

Any information would be appreciated.

My grandfather was James Washington Williams he was
born in 1877 in Alabama and he was from the first
marriage of Wilson Williams to Georgiana Martin.
other childern from that marriage was Elizabeth and
Daniel. Wilson's second marriage was to Lilly Landers.
They had 3 sons in Georgia, lenoard, bogan and noah.
I belive I have found Wilson's parents, H Williams
and Ann Williams in the 1860 census. I made the
connection through his sister Nancy, they are both
shown in that same census. Also William and Elizabeth
Williams shown which I belive is Wilson's grandparents.
I can't find anymore info on H Williams beyond this
to census to prove he is Wilson's father. I cannot
determine what the H stands for. The census shows
they lived in Morgan County Georgia.

John Williams born In Alabama, Georgia, North or South Carolina. He was born July 7, 1811 and married Mary Ann McGee December 21, 1832. They lived in the Columbus, Ga., area where I have documents whereby his two daughter, Sarah Clementine born Oct 31, 1835 in Georgia or Alabama married July 4, 1852 and died September 13, 1862 and sister Julia Lucrecita Williams born September 21, 1833 probably in Ga. were deeded lands from their Mother Mary Ann McGee's sister Isabel.
The John Williams family lived in Russell County, Alabama on the 1850 Census and lived in Eufaula, Barbour County, Alabama on the 1860 and 1870 Census. John, Mary and some family consisting of Sarah's (now dead) Owens children as well as son Robert Holland left Barbour County in 1873 and settled in Orange County, Ga. Some children moved to DeSoto Parish, La such as my great grandfather, James Edward Williams married to Sophronia Brown and his sister Mariah Ann or Mittie that was married to Andrew P. Harris,

Any help is appreciated and I have documents that I am more than willing to share.
